The University College London Gliding Club provides Students' Union UCL
members easy and affordable access to the most wonderful form of aviation, gliding.
All current UCL students are automatically members of the Students' Union UCL unless they opt-out. Students' Union UCL affiliate membership is also available to staff and alumni of UCL, as well as current students at other UK universities. Please contact the Students' Union UCL for more information.
No experience is required to join the club and training is provided by volunteer instructors for pilots of all stages.
Where We Fly
We are affiliated with the RAFGSA Chilterns Gliding Centre who are located at RAF Halton Airfield. This is about 1 hour by train from London, very near Wendover and Aylesbury.
The club owns three aircraft, an ASK21, which is a fibreglass
2 seat training glider, an ASW19, a fibreglass single seater and a Ka6CR, a classic
wooden single seater.
We are also permitted to use the fleet of the Chilterns Gliding Centre, which include three ASK21's, an ASK13, a wooden 2 seater trainer, an ASK18, a wooden single seater, a Duo Discus, a high performance 2 seater trainer, as well as a few high performance single seaters.
Two Grob-109B motorgliders are available as well for cross country training.
When We Fly
We fly on all weekends and bank holidays all year round, weather permitting. All flying must be pre-booked on our forum under bookings. This section of the forums can only be seen by members. Information about joining can be found on our Flying With Us page.
